Anjali Sreekumar is an Architectural Historian and a Researcher, working in the interstices of humans and the built environment. She graduated from College of Engineering Trivandrum, Trivandrum (2014-2019) and completed her post-graduation from CEPT University, Ahmedabad, in Architectural History and Research (2021-2023). Her master’s thesis explored the colonial modernity that emerged in Bulandshahr through the works of F S Growse. Her research interest lies in post-colonial urban studies and environmental history. She approaches history to have a better understanding of the present and to effectively plan the future.
She was a recipient of INTACH Research Scholarship 2020 cycle where she explored the socio-economic dimensions of Temple Sacred Groves in Kannur district. Sacred groves are intricately linked to livelihood of the people in Kannur and it is the single most entity which entails ecological, social, and religious value. This study has been crucial to her understanding of the place and motivated her to pursue her master’s in Architectural History. She is a keen observer and avid reader.
