seed offers a 5 year B. Arch course and is affiliated to Mahatma Gandhi University Kottayam with a sanctioned intake per year of 80 which is approved by Council of Architecture, New Delhi.
A brief overview of the course, its contents and prospects
As a profession that deals with the study and Design of habitats, Architecture is a meta-discipline and has a strong relation to the Humanities as compared to a technical course. It demands considerable self motivation from the individual student. Apart from the core subject of Architectural Design, the course content ranges from technical subjects such as Structural Design, Environmental science, Acoustics, Quantity survey and Disaster management mitigation to humanities such as History, Sociology, Philosophy and Literature. The course also provides strong management training to the students on areas such as Professional Practice, Project management, Public speaking and Peer learning and exposes the student to various vocational skills such as Carpentry, Fabrication, digital techniques and Photography. The B Arch course provides a strong foundation for a variety of specializations such as Product Design, Graphics, City Planning, Urban Design, Landscape Design, Parametric Design etc.

Student accommodation
seed is a fully sustainable residential campus which suits the ethos of a design school that works round the clock. Our Ladies Hostel was commisioned in February 2021 and currently has a capacity of 100 students. Our mens hostel was inaugurated at the start of current academic year 23-24 with similar capacity. Both are monitored closely by a team of efficient wardens and faculty members. At present, the school canteen doubles up as the Hostel mess, providing safe and homely food to its inhabitants.
Eligibility
All candidates who have:
- Passed in 12th Class with PCM Subjects/ 10+3 Diploma with Mathematics.
- Qualified NATA – The National Aptitude Test in Architecture conducted by the Council of Architecture.
- Completed 17 years of age as of the last date of submission of the Application form.
Both of the above shall carry 50% weightage in the matter of admissions.
Admissions at seed
Admission for the new batch of 2021-22 will be announced as soon as the Council publishes the annual academic calendar. The Prospectus and admission form can be downloaded from the website. The form needs to be filled up and uploaded to the site to be eligible for selection to the management seats.
