An architect based out of Kochi, Aswathy Ganesh graduated from the College of Engineering, Trivandrum in 2015. During these initial years, her professional training with Ar. Tony Joseph at Stapati, Calicut, had a profound influence on her, enabling her to develop a broader perspective and perceive architecture’s intricate linkages to other forms of artistic expression. After graduation, she began her career working as an architect with Professor Christopher Benninger at his studio, CCBA Designs, in Pune. During her time here, she was closely involved in the design of projects such as the academic buildings for IIT Hyderabad, the Azim Premji University in Bangalore, housing for the Bajaj Institute of Technology in Wardha, a school at Madambakkam in Chennai, besides several other smaller projects. Working on a range of projects helped her gain an understanding of architecture of diverse scales, besides enabling her to handle different project typologies from conceptualization to execution. At CCBA, she was also actively involved in creating project write-ups for publications.
After working for a period of 5 years, Aswathy started her own practice in Kochi, titled ‘The One’ architecture studio. Beginning with the design for a unique temple at Coimbatore that marked the beginning of her practice, she has designed several other projects such as a dining hall for a homestay at Alappuzha, a factory facility for the Synthite group at Kolenchery, residential interiors besides other ongoing architecture, interior and restoration projects.
