Local Hands Project x SEEDiagonals: 15th -17th December, 2024
Local Hands Project is a design initiative based in Cochin that focuses on blending traditional craftsmanship with modern design principles. They celebrate the artistry of Indian artisans while creating sustainable, handcrafted furniture and interior solutions. This workshop offered insights and hands-on experience into their processes from concept to creation and encouraged students to explore the intersection of design, sustainability, and craftsmanship.
Students looked at the journey of wood transformation from raw material to finished product, including wood selection, treatment processes, joinery design and crafting techniques using advanced machinery. The workshop culminated in students applying the learned techniques, designing and manufacturing their own products.
